The median app in Discord's directory runs in 642 servers, and 19.1 percent of them are monetised. Only 51 apps, under 1 percent, are in a million servers or more, while the ten largest hold 40.7 percent of all installations between them. Apps that charge sit in a median 1,900 servers against 522 for those that do not. Measured September 2026 across 5,522 apps.
Discord publishes, for every app in its directory, the number of servers it is installed in and whether it sells anything. Both are unusual: most marketplaces publish neither reach nor a monetisation flag.
| Percentile | Servers |
|---|---|
| 10th | 16 |
| 25th | 101 |
| 50th (median) | 642 |
| 75th | 4,110 |
| 90th | 21,400 |
| 99th | 913,000 |
| Servers | Apps | Share |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000,000 or more | 51 | 0.9% |
| 100,000 or more | 226 | 4.1% |
| 10,000 or more | 868 | 15.7% |
| 1,000 or more | 2,452 | 44.4% |
| 100 or more | 4,151 | 75.2% |
| 10 or more | 5,119 | 92.8% |
The mean is 50,922 against a median of 642, a ratio of about eighty. Nearly half the apps measured are in over a thousand servers, which is a far better floor than most catalogues in this collection manage, but the top is extraordinarily far away.
| Group | Share of all 281 million installations |
|---|---|
| The 10 largest apps | 40.7% |
| The top 1 percent, 55 apps | 72.9% |
| The top 10 percent, 551 apps | 96.1% |
| The remaining 4,967 apps | 3.9% |
This is the same shape as Zapier, where the ten largest integrations hold 41.1 percent. Two marketplaces with nothing in common produce almost the same concentration.
| Category | Apps measured | Monetised | Median servers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Social | 2,625 | 20.4% | 740 |
| Games | 1,741 | 20.0% | 754 |
| Moderation and Tools | 1,667 | 24.7% | 1,690 |
| Utilities | 1,332 | 19.4% | 496 |
| Entertainment | 751 | 21.3% | 358 |
Monetisation sits between 19 and 25 percent in every category, which is a narrower band than any other marketplace here. Moderation and tools leads on both counts, and it is the one category whose users are server administrators rather than members.
5,289 of 5,522 apps, 95.8 percent, are verified. 3,376, or 61.1 percent, list English only, which is a lower share than the Slack Marketplace at 89.1 percent. French, Spanish, German and Brazilian Portuguese each appear on more than 700 apps.
On 2026-09-08 we read Discord's application directory search endpoint for each of its 10 category
ids, 100 results per request. Figures come from Discord's own fields: guild_count for
the number of servers, is_monetized, is_verified and the supported
locales. 77 requests returned 5,522 distinct apps.
Two traps for anyone repeating this. The endpoint ignores limit but honours
page_size, up to 100. And every query stops at 1,000 results however it is paged, so a
category holding 9,855 apps still yields only its first 1,000. Requests also need to be spaced out
or Cloudflare returns error 1015.
